What inspired you to get involved with the Children’s Museum?

“I believe in the power of hands-on learning to spark curiosity and joy. As an educator, parent, and grandparent, I’ve seen how children grow when they are free to explore, tinker, and discover. The Museum’s focus on STEAM and the 4Cs of 21st Century Learning—collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity—offers an incredible opportunity for our community. I’m excited to help build a place where wonder and learning come alive for every child.”

Can you share a favorite childhood memory that sparked your passion for Sarasota to have a children’s museum and you being a part of bringing that to reality?
“As a child, I spent countless hours outside with neighborhood friends—creating our own toys, writing and performing shows, and exploring the world around us. Those moments of imagination and discovery shaped my love for hands-on learning. I want children in our community to have the same opportunities for creativity and wonder, which is why I’m passionate about helping bring the Children’s Museum to life.”

What’s an interactive exhibit or educational program you would love to see at the museum, and why?

“I would love to see a watershed exploration zone that helps children understand how water shapes our community. Hands-on activities could let them see the flow of water, explore how our choices affect it, and inspire them to care for this vital resource. An exhibit like this would spark curiosity while building a sense of responsibility for protecting our environment.”

If you could have any superpower to help you in your role, what would it be and why?

“If I could have any superpower, it would be the ability to see into the future. Imagine knowing the long-term impact of today’s decisions—being able to glimpse the joy on children’s faces years from now as they explore, learn, and grow in the museum we’re building. That perspective would help me to stay focused on what matters most: creating lasting opportunities for children in our community.”

What are your hobbies or special talents that might surprise people?
“One hobby that might surprise people is my love of reading—I’ve read nearly 100 books this year as part of expanding my reading life. For me, reading sparks curiosity and offers an escape into new worlds, characters,  and fun places.”

If you could host a dinner party with any three characters from children’s books or movies, who would they be and why?

“I would invite Charlotte from Charlotte’s Web, Mary Poppins, and the mouse from If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. Charlotte brings wisdom and kindness, Mary Poppins adds a sense of magic and wonder, and the mouse brings curiosity and a little fun mischief. Together, they’d make for an evening filled with imagination, fun, and life lessons.”
