What inspired you to get involved with the Children’s Museum?
I’m so excited to be involved with the Sarasota Children’s Museum because I know how greatly a space like this is needed in our community. Sarasota is a beautiful, vibrant city and a great place to raise a family. The addition of a Children’s Museum will be an integral part of our community, helping families make memories for years to come!
Can you share a favorite childhood memory that sparked your passion for Sarasota to have a children’s museum and you being a part of bringing that to reality?
Growing up in Sarasota I remember visiting G.Wiz and MOSI being so excited to learn new things and experience all the exhibits. It opened my eyes to the endless possibilities in the world and I want to help provide that experience for future generations.
What’s an interactive exhibit or educational program you would love to see at the museum, and why?
I would love to see an eco-friendly exhibit focused on sustainable agriculture. For example, an interactive community garden where children can get their hands dirty and learn about the plants and pollinators that are so important to our area.
If you could have any superpower to help you in your role, what would it be and why?
To help in this role, I would want my superpower to be able to teleport. That way I could visit Children’s Museums around the world and bring back tons of fun ideas and exhibits!
What are your hobbies or special talents that might surprise people?
It might surprise people that even though I grew up in sunny Florida, I love skiing! I’m just a beginner, but look forward to future ski lessons with my husband and daughter.
If you could host a dinner party with any three characters from children’s books or movies, who would they be and why?
I would invite Ms. Frizzle from The Magic School Bus and Mary Poppins to make dinner a magical adventure – and of course Willy Wonka for fun and exciting desserts!
